An Elkhart man is facing charges after allegedly denying medical care to his dependent.

Officers arrived to the house of 51-year-old Mark Rockrohr on C.R. 2, in regards to his dependent.

The Elkhart County Superior Court granted sole guardianship of the dependent to the mother, after Rockrohr allegedly did not come to a hearing.

The Elkhart Truth reports that when officers arrived, Rockrohr refused to move out of the doorway, saying that his dependent was sick.

Inside the home, they found tools, debris, only one bed, and doorways and vents taped over.

The dependent was taken to the hospital with severe pneumonia and malnourishment.

Officials say that the dependent had not seen a doctor since May.

Rockrohr is facing charges of neglect.
