Boy, 14, killed in shooting in Mishawaka identified

The teenage boy killed in a shooting in Mishawaka has been identified

Police were called around 7 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 2, to a home in the 600 block of Locust Street where they found Devonte Freeman, 14, inside with a gunshot wound.

Freeman was taken to a hospital where he died as a result of the injury.

The case is still in the initial stage of the investigation and information that led to the shooting is still being collected, according to Mishawaka Police.
