Outgoing Congressman Fred Upton issued a statement Thursday afternoon on the death of Queen Elizabeth. He said “For more than 70 years, Her Majesty projected grace and steady leadership.”

He noted that he’d had the distinct pleasure of attending her address to a joint session of Congress in 1991. He mentioned her message of individual freedoms and the importance of stopping aggression. In closing, he offered his thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family and the people of both Britain and the Commonwealth.
