Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana has received a $3,000 grant from the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council.

The grant is for updating the laundry amenities at their South Bend house.

The RMHC Michiana houses families of sick and injured children receiving care at Beacon Children’s Hospital in South Bend. They provide meals, showers and laundry services, as well as house families overnight.

Kierstin Eifler, RMHC Michiana Chief Executive Officer, says that doing laundry and having clean clothes can make a big difference for parents with children in the hospital.

According to ABC 57 News, RMHC Michiana hosted families from Cass County for 225 nights in 2021. Residents from Berrien County also made up six percent of RMHC Michiana’s total nights provided last year.
