Court records say a man has been arrested after allegedly hitting his girlfriend and trying to strangle her.

South Bend Police responded to a home on Oct. 26 on reports of a domestic battery situation.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim upset and crying. She said her boyfriend, Armani Thomas, became angry when she was talking about her feelings. According to the probable cause affidavit, Thomas struck the victim in the face when she told him to leave.

Reports say he also grabbed her by the throat and cut off her airway, nearly causing her to lose consciousness.

According to reports, Thomas jumped out of a window when police were called.

Officers reported that the woman’s lip was cut and bleeding.

Thomas was located shortly after the officers arrived. He was on probation for two convictions – armed robbery and battery – at the time of the incident, the probably cause affidavit states.

Thomas has been charged with strangulation and domestic battery.
