The building that caught fire, early Tuesday morning, Nov. 15, in South Bend has been deemed a total loss.

Fire crews were called just after 4 a.m. to the 1800 block of Longley Avenue to find heavy fire and smoke throughout the structure.

Investigators say the roof collapsed moments after crews began their battle against the flames. Firefighters were also challenged by the fact that gates around the property were locked and several vehicles parked around the building were damaged.

There was no report of any injuries. So far, there’s no word about what sparked the fire.
