Man sentenced to three years after pleading guilty to battering 1 year-old child

A man accused of battering his girlfriend’s one-year-old child has been sentenced to three years in county jail.

John Sutton pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement to the felony charge of battery resulting in bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age.

It was back in June when the beating occurred.

According to court documents, the one-year-old was brought to the hospital with severe facial bruising, redness, and a hemorrhage to the left eye.

At the time, Sutton told witnesses and police different stories about how the child fell and was hurt, though a witness told investigators Sutton hit the child.

SuTwo years of Sutton’s sentence were suspended. He’ll serve two years’ probation and a No Contact Order will remain in effect during his probation, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
