Celebration Of Life planned for Garvin Roberson

A Celebration Of Life service for Garvin Roberson will be take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, at North Side Gymnasium in Elkhart.

Arrangements are being made by Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.

The brother of Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson was found dead, late last week, inside a vehicle submerged in water, in the area of Fawn River Road and White School Road, near Sturgis.

Garvin was last on Sunday, Nov. 27, and a statewide Silver Alert was issued the next day.

Roberson was named an All-American in prep football and basketball and named All-Big Ten as a wide receiver for the University of Illinois. He was a well-liked teacher and a well-known football, basketball and track coach.

Instead of flowers, you’re asked to send donations to the Humane Society of Elkhart County – 54687 County Road 19, Bristol, IN 46507 and/or Elkhart Athletic Department – 2608 California Road, Elkhart, IN 46514.
