Potawatomi Zoo welcomes new young groundhog

There is a new addition to the Potawatomi Zoo family.

It’s Potawatomi Poppy, a young groundhog.

At less than a year old, Poppy was rescued as a young pup and cared for by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.

Zoo officials say she’s quite friendly, and she’ll be part of their Ambassador Animal program, although right now, she’s spending most of her time snoozing in her den, as most groundhogs do during winter.
