Indiana lawmakers planning for mental health legislation during next session

Indiana lawmakers are releasing fresh information about their plans for mental health legislation this legislative session.

A bipartisan group of Indiana politicians addressed their views during a symposium hosted by Mental Health America of Indiana this past Friday.

They feel the moment is perfect, and they have the support of their colleagues to enact mental health legislation.

One such bill would create a $1 surcharge on cell phone bill and would generate around $100 million per year to fund the new 988 mental health crisis lifeline and response services.
