Dowagiac’s new city flag has been recognized in a nationwide poll.

The flag was in the 2022 Urban Life Signs North American City Flag Tournament, a Twitter poll meant to find the best city flag in North America.

Leader Publications says that the contest was the idea of San Francisco City Planner, Brian Stokle.

The contest was between 80 U.S. cities and Canadian flags, with the goal to find the best municipal flag made since 2002.

Dowagiac adopted their new flag in June 2022.

The Dowagiac flag features a white dogwood flower with a black center over an orange four-pointed star in a blue circle on a green field.
