New security upgrades in place in downtown South Bend County-City Building lobby

New security upgrades are now in place in the lobby of the County-City Building, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd. in downtown South Bend.
Visitors will notice a new employee-only entrance on the south side of the building.
Only employees with a valid employee ID can enter through that door.
The public will still enter through the west doors (off of LaFayette).
Both visitors and employees will still have bags x-rayed and will be required to walk through a metal detector.
The second biggest difference visitors might notice is that the Sheriff is no longer providing security services to the County-City Building, but will still do so in the courthouses. Instead, the county has contracted with Trinity Security to provide both armed and unarmed security services to the County-City Building.
