A Michigan City man has been arrested for allegedly being a felon in possession of a firearm.

LaPorte County deputies were called to a business in Clinton Township, just after 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, to standby while management fired an employee.

Management escorted the worker, Dalerond L. Jefferson, 59, outside of the building near the deputies.

One of the officers saw a bulge in Jefferson’s shirt and suspected it was a gun. Officers knew Jefferson was banned from carrying firearms due to his criminal past and took him into custody and confiscated a loaded Ruger pistol.

Jefferson was taken to the LaPorte County Jail and is being held without bond.

So, where did this felon get a firearm? Could not have been legally.
