The Potawatomi Zoo will be celebrating Groundhog Day with its new Ambassador Animal groundhog, Poppy.

The Zoo will have a live “weather report” at 10 in the morning, on February 2nd, to see if Poppy sees her shadow and predicts spring or a long winter.

Poppy was rescued by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator in 2022.

She had a brief illness, and when she recovered, she was determined to be too friendly toward people to be safely released back into the wild.

She joined the Zoo’s Ambassador Animal program at the end of last year.
