Bill being considered would allow training for teachers to have guns in classrooms

Training teachers to have guns in their classroom is what a bill under consideration in the Statehouse would do.
State Rep. Jim Lucas, who wrote the bill, said in a committee hearing Wednesday that the bill in no way requires teachers to carry guns in classrooms.
His bill actually creates a voluntary firearm training program for teachers and school employees that would be paid for by the state.
The bill advanced out of a committee vote. State law already allows teachers to have guns in the classroom if they get approval from their school board.
