Michigan Representative Elissa Slotkin is entering the race to replace retiring Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow.
Slotkin announced her campaign via social media, stating what’s needed is  a new generation of leaders that thinks differently, works harder, and never forgets that they are public servants.
Stabenow previously announced that she won’t seek re-election and will leave the U.S. Senate at the end of her term in early 2025.
The announcement makes Slotkin the first Democrat to officially declare a bid in what may be among the most competitive Senate contests in 2024.
