One of the people pulled from a burning home in South Bend has died.

Crews were called around 11 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, to the 700 block of South 35th Street and were able to get the fire out in less than a half-hour. However, two people found close to the door were found, unconscious, by firefighters.

One of the victims, who was an adult, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other victim, a child, was airlifted to an Indianapolis-area hospital for care.

No word about the cause of the fire and firefighters on scene did not hear any sounds of smoke alarms going off.

Fire Investigators ask the public and/or anyone to please not interfere with the structure at a fire scene.  Please call the South Bend Fire Department if you have any questions about creating a fire escape plan.
