Tourism experts say they are going full force with plans to attract visitors to Northwest Indiana.

Jack Arnett, the CEO of Visit Michigan City La Porte Visitors Bureau, says they’ve held up better than most of the other destination management organizations in the country.

That’s because La Porte County has the third largest number of third-party rentals in Indiana, and because of the nature of the venues.

According to Northwest Indiana Business, Northwest Indiana travel destinations did not see major significant dips in numbers during the pandemic because the state was kept fairy open, but leaders are still optimistic about 2023 and beyond.

They’re predicting more than 820 million dollars in taxes collected from hotels due to partnerships with sports associations and tourists visiting the Indiana Dunes National Park.

However, while the leisure and hospitality industry is hoped to return to pre-pandemic levels during 2023, the workforce needed to staff it may make it difficult.
