Imagine answering a knock on your door and there’s a stark naked man on the other side. That’s what happened in rural LaPorte County late Tuesday night, April 11.

A resident reported having someone knock on his door and upon answering, observed a completely nude male present, who in turn took off running in a direction towards Pinhook Bog.

Sheriff’s deputies met in the parking lot of Pinhook Bog. They heard a male voice coming from the direction of a nearby woods. The deputies accessed the area via some nearby trails and located the male in his au naturel state approximately 75 yards into the woods.

The male was identified as Geoffrey D. Manthey, 40, of Michigan City. He told deputies he was attempting to locate his cell phone.

Manthey was taken into custody and transported to the LaPorte County Jail. He was arrested for Public Nudity, a Class A-Misdemeanor.  Manthey remains housed in the LCJ and is being held on a $605 bond through Superior Court III.
