Arrest made in 1988 St. Joseph County cold case

Robert Odell Waters - Beaufort County, South Carolina
35 years after the murder occurred in St. Joseph County in Michigan, a suspect has finally been arrested.
Robert Odell Waters is charged with the murder of Cathy Sue Swartz, 19.
Swartz was attacked and killed inside her apartment in December, 1988, all while her baby daughter was in the next room.
The spotlight on Waters came about thanks to advancements in DNA technology as, last year, when police used forensic genealogy to narrow down the suspect pool to a single family.
Each family member was tested until Waters was identified as the suspect.
Waters was arrested in South Carolina and will be extradited back to St. Joseph County.
