Check your pets: An invasive species of tick has been found in The Hoosier State.

Indiana has become the 19th state to report the Asian Longhorned Tick. Two of the parasites were found in the southeastern part of the state a couple of weeks ago.

The tick is reddish brown and about a tenth of an inch long, but when fully engorged they grow to the size of a pea. The Indiana State Board of Health warns that the little critters are very adaptable to a number of conditions and hosts, so they are prone to go through an explosive population growth.

The CDC says they are less attracted to human skin than many other ticks.
