Man convicted in 1993 murder case will not receive new trial

(95.3 MNC)
A man convicted in a 1993 murder will not receive a new trial. Jason Tibbs was convicted in 2014 for the 1993 killing of 16-year-old Rayna Rison.
Rison’s brother-in-law Ray McCarty was originally charged with her murder, but a lack of evidence plus a tip from a prison inmate pointed to Jason Tibbs.
Rison’s body was found face down in a pond 10 days after she got off work at an animal hospital.
She had been strangled. A judge rejected Tibbs argument that his lawyers failed to properly present evidence.
The judge said Tibbs did not prove any failures on his legal team’s part would’ve changed the jury’s decision.
He’s currently serving 40 years in prison.
