Nappanee woman injured, police searching for driver after hit-and-run crash on SR 19

Police in Elkhart County are looking for the driver who they say rear-ended another vehicle, injuring the driver, then took off from the scene.

The collision happened around around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, on State Road 19, south of the bypass at County Road 26.

Sheriff’s investigators say a 65-year-old woman from Nappanee was driving northbound was struck from behind by the driver of a Hyundai.

The force of the collsion caused the woman to go off the road. She suffered an injury to her back and her knee and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for care.

There was no further description of the vehicle or the driver given.
