Semi driver from Illinois killed in crash on Indiana Toll Road near Howe exit

A semi driver from Illinois was killed in a crash on the Indiana Toll Road.

The collision happened around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, in the westbound lanes of the 120 mile marker, near the Howe exit, in LaGrange County.

At the scene, first responders found that a Freightliner semi that had crashed into the back of a Kenworth semi. The driver of the Freightliner, Luka Cuk, 29, died at the scene.

According to the police investigation, the Kenworth rig was traveling at a slow rate of speed when Cuk’s semi tried to slow down on its approach, but ended up hitting the rear end of the Kenworth while trying to avoid a collision.

The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

There’s no word about why the surviving driver was traveling at a slow rate of speed. Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
