Child found stabbed and held underwater by mother, police say

A 2-year-old girl was found stabbed and held underwater by her mother.

It happened in Jackson County, Michigan on Saturday, June 24, around 10:30 a.m..

Police were called to the house, after receiving a 911 call with children screaming and asking for help.

When they arrived, officers say they found a 35-year-old woman holding down a 2-year-old girl under water in the bathtub.

The child was given CPR. Police say that she coughed up water and was able to breath on her own. She was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

She also had two stab wounds to the chest and the throat. Another child, a 4-year-old girl, also had cuts. The two were also believed to have ingested cleaning fluid.

Police say that the other two children in the house, and 8-year-old and 15-year-old did not have any injuries.

The two younger children were both taken to the hospital and were last reported to be in stable condition.
