Grissom Air Reserve Base is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first aerial refueling flight.
A KC-135R Stratotanker will fly from Fort Wayne on a route that passes over Notre Dame’s Campus, the Indiana Dunes, Indiana University, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The first air-refueling mission took place on June 27, 1923 in San Diego.
The mission extended the original flight by 6 hours and 38 minutes.
