Search for killer underway after man was shot, killed in Benton Township

A search is underway for the person who shot a man in Benton Township.

In the early morning hours of July 2, officers were dispatched to the Berrien Homes Housing Complex for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from gunshot wounds, laying in the parking lot. Life saving measures were exhausted, but unsuccessful. The victim was identified as Toma Turner, 30, of Benton Harbor.

The early stages of the investigation indicate that there was an argument just prior to the shooting between Turner and the suspect. The suspect is described as a skinny black male in his 30’s. The suspect was last seen in the area of Berrien Homes on foot and his current whereabouts and identification are unknown at this time.
