You may have a tough time at the dentist, but many people with developmental disabilities have an even tougher one.

In Michigan there is a growing number of dentists who are offering inclusive dental care, some offering sensory rooms and sound-proofing to offer a calming environment for the procedures.

Bridge Michigan reports that two out of three adults with disabilities are unable to receive oral care without modified support, and many dentists haven’t been trained on how to offer that.

The Delta Dental Foundation is offering insurance help for these patients, as well as three-day training courses to help dental professionals learn to help those with disabilities.
