A 10-year-old boy drowned in the Nappanee public pool.
It happened on Tuesday, July 4.
Authorities say Kymani Collier went under the water around 4:45 p.m. at the pool. Lifeguards retrieved him and performed CPR. The boy was taken to Elkhart General Hospital and then airlifted to South Bend Memorial where he died.
Kymani attended Chamberlain Elementary School, where School counselors will be available for any students who need help dealing with the boy’s death.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the events that led to the boy’s death.
A GoFundMe account has been organized to help with funeral expenses.
