According to a new survey by LendingTree the average back-to-school shopper spends around $700 in 2023.

68% of participants who responded to the survey claimed they feel stressed about the amount they will be spending to prepare for the school year.

33% of shoppers expect to go into debt as a result of back-to-school shopping, with almost the exact same amount of people citing inflation as their reasoning for spending more.
