Teenager drowns off Lake Michigan shoreline at Wells Street Beach

An 18-year-old drowned in Lake Michigan in northwest Indiana.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 29.

Authorities say the teen was swimming near the Wells Street Beach and Marquette Park in Lake County. A Red Flag Warning had been issued earlier in the day.

The teen’s body was recovered about a mile from the area where they got into the water.
