Hit-Fit Boxing Studio in Downtown Goshen has been in business for a year. And now, two of the kids on the Double R.R Fight Team have the opportunity to go to a national competition.
Jarret and Emiliano have been boxing for a year and got their start with coach Arturo Rodriguez. They are both happy to make it to nationals, “I was nervous and excited.”

Rodriguez says that he is happy to have been with them through the start, “it tells me that I’m doing something right,” he says, “everyday I’m learning and passing it onto the kids.”
In order to go to nationals, the
studio has to pay some big bucks. Rodriguez says that for other competitions, he’s used money from his own pocket so that the team can compete, “we’re trying to raise around $3,000 to cover the whole trip.”

It costs a little bit more for them to travel to the National Junior Golden Gloves Competition. Rodriguez says that one of his boxers has special needs, “one of our fighters is a Type I Diabetic, so he needs special food and supplements.”
But, the studio is in good spirits, “why not take the chance?”
You can support the kids on their way to nationals in Florida from Aug. 6-9 on their GoFundMe.
Rodriguez says that inspiration for starting the boxing studio came from his love of the sport and a passion for helping kids in the community, “my mission is to help as many kids join. Instead of going down the wrong path, instead of picking up guns, I’d rather have them pick up a pair of gloves and learn discipline.”

Emiliano and Jarret are grateful for their instructor, saying, “I want to thank my coach because he’s been training us and teaching us everything.”
Rodriguez says that his boxing studio is open for all ages, “it’s for everybody, boxing is for everybody.”
