The Humane Society of Elkhart County is, once again, near capacity on cats and dogs being housed in the facility, and is urgently asking the public for assistance by opening their homes to a new pet.
The shelter has 55 adoptable cats, 39 adoptable dogs, and 3 adoptable rats, and we are near capacity with both cats and dogs waiting for their stray hold to end or to be united with their owners.
You can visit their website, www.elkharthumanesociety.org, to see animals in need of forever homes. All adoption fees are waived through Saturday, but they are encouraging people to adopt sooner rather than later. All pets adopted from us come spayed or neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready to be loved.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
