A man is facing charges after the death of a one-year-old child in South Bend on Tuesday.

South Bend Police say Joseph Troupe, 19, is facing three charges of neglect of a dependent and one charge of reckless homicide for the shooting death of a one-year-old boy in South Bend on Tuesday, Aug. 8. He pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on Thursday.

The boy was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

They say Troupe left a loaded gun in a bedroom. The one-year-old’s two-year-old cousin allegedly picked up the gun and shot the one-year-old in the head.

The boy was rushed to the hospital but later died. Troupe is the uncle of the boy killed.

Oh he’s guilty alright. This adult male with a gun is responsible for the all changes. He needs to be punished to the maximum level. Irresponsible people should never have a firearm. What is the man’s criminal history ?
