Benton Harbor welcomes lawmakers for energy discussion

(95.3 MNC)

State Representative Joey Andrews will host a meeting to discuss energy and environmental concerns on Friday.

Michigan House Energy Reliability, Resilience, and Accountability Task Force members are likely to attend the meeting.

According to Andrews, the task force meetings in Michigan this year have brought different things to say depending on the area.

He expects southwest Michigan residents to have their own thoughts, too.

There is only one meeting left for the task force after this week and then the panel will make policy recommendations.

Friday’s meeting is set to be held from 11 to 1 on Friday in room 1304 at the Lake Michigan College Todd Center.

I have energy and environmental concerns…I’m concerned by people with a ‘green’ ideology wanting to cover croplands with solar panels and cut down oxygen producing trees on the hilltops for cyclopian pinwheels. I’m concerned that both of these technologies will be producing 50 tons of waste a day that will need to be disposed of most likely in our land fills at the end of their life cycles in a few years.

I’d like to hear more about environmentally friendly, sustainable and abundant nuclear and natural gas production. These two technologies take a massively smaller footprint on the landscape and don’t change the ecosystems in such hugely negative ways.

Unfortunately, this will most likely not be the focus of this meeting and they will want to continue down the path of unreliable, economically and ecologically harmful technologies. Our future seems to be stupid and dark…what did the liberals use to read at night with before candles? Electricity. The future is so bright I need night vision goggles.
