South Bend Police have identified a suspect in a deadly shooting dating back to 2021.
Quadir Quiroz, 18, is accused of killing Ashanti Hines, 19, as she sat parked in a vehicle in the 1000 block of Yukon Street.
According to court documents, Hines was not the intended target. Instead, Quiroz and another man were allegedly shooting at a man she was in the vehicle with.
While serving a warrant to Quiroz three days after the shooting, police found a gun at a home he was at whose casings matched those found at the scene of Hines’ murder.
Three witnesses and a DNA match also pointed investigators in the direction of Quiroz.
He’s set to appear in court in late September.
