The victim of last week’s McAlister Street residence fire has been identified and a cause has been determined.

Reports say that when police arrived at the scene, two of three residents had escaped the fire, though they told police that their son, Deangelo Porter, was still inside.

Law enforcement has confirmed that the victim found dead at the scene was Porter.

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety has determined the cause of the fire to be due to electrical issues.
