The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is honoring a piece of South Bend’s athletic history.

Friday, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, the hall will unveil their officially licensed, limited-edition South Bend Blue Sox bobblehead. They’re part of a series commemorating the league’s World Series winners during its 12 years of existence.

South Bend won back-to-back titles in 1951 and 1952.

The AAGPBL Champions Series also includes the four-time champion Rockford Peaches (1945, 1948, 1949, 1950), two-time champion Grand Rapids Chicks (1947, 1953) and Racine Belles (1943, 1946) and one-time champion Milwaukee Chicks (1944) and Kalamazoo Lassies (1954). The bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in conjunction with the AAGPBL.
