A tax appeal that includes the Cook Nuclear Plant could throw the switch on millions in tax revenue for Berrien County.
The revaluation of the plant could result in a roughly 30 percent reduction in the plant’s value, according to WSJM.
On Thursday the County Administrator told Berrien County Commissioners that if the state agrees with the lower value of the plant, it would have an immediate impact of $3 million to $3.5 million fewer dollars of tax revenue to the county. That would have impacts on Lake Township and Bridgman Public Schools.

The age of the structure and depreciation has taken a toll. We all know that properties do not increase in value all the time. It’s not their fault, blame it on the nature of the property and what it’s been used for.
