Michigan Capitol to add ZeroEyes gun-detection technology

(95.3 MNC)

Michigan has been named the first state Capitol in the nation to use ZeroEyes gun-detection technology.

The use of artificial intelligence to detect firearms is planned to increase security as threats and violence seem to be growing.

The system analyzes footage from existing video cameras to identify firearms, which will then be reviewed by trained specialists at ZeroEyes. If they confirm a threat, alerts will be sent to Capitol police in seconds.

According to Bridge Michigan, earlier this year, the Capitol approved installation of metal detectors inside the building as well as a full indoor gun ban, and the lease with ZeroEyes was unanimously approved last month.
