Former Indiana lawmaker Sean Eberhart pleaded guilty earlier this week to a charge of supporting a bill that favored a casino in exchange for promises of lucrative employment.

The 57-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, having previously agreed to plead guilty earlier in the month.

The offense carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing details were not specified by Judge Matthew P. Brookman of the Southern District Court of Indiana, who mentioned that sentencing would occur at an unspecified date.

Brookman noted that prosecutors and Eberhart’s attorneys had not reached an agreement on a recommended sentence but had settled on $60,000 in restitution.
