Michigan State Park camping filling up fast for 2024

Huron-Manistee Forest, Michigan (Kim Closson)

Winter weather got you down? You might want to make a reservation to camp at one of Michigan’s state parks later this year.

But don’t wait too long — those spots are filling up fast. Bridge Michigan reports that about 35% of those reservations are already booked through July. The most popular parks in Michigan are 60-80% booked, and some of the parks are closed for most or all of the coming year for construction.

Campgrounds at state parks can be reserved six months in advance, according to the DNR, and you can click here to plan your getaway online.
