Benton Harbor man charged after assault, crash, and police chase

A man was sentenced to prison after assaulting a woman, crashing into a car, and running from police.

The incident happened in July in Niles. 36-year-old Tobias Johnson from Benton Harbor pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three concurrent terms.

The charges he pleaded guilty to were assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct, fleeing and eluding police, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Leader Publications reports that Johnson may even have to register as a sex offender and be on the registry for the rest of his life.
