A LaGrange Police Department Deputy is being celebrated after acting quick to stop a shooter.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. on January 17 when dispatch received a call about shots fired in the 6800 block of County Road 270 E.

The suspect, Gregory Kurzawski of Colon, Michigan, allegedly fired several rounds at a neighbor before driving to a store on North State Road 9 in Howe. He reportedly tried to get a customer to give him a ride, and when they didn’t comply, he pulled a gun on them and fired a single shot as the customer ran.

ABC 57 News says Deputy Marshal Anderson, who responded to the scene, located Kurzawski quickly and apprehended him.

Anderson was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for his critical thinking and quick actions.
