In response to an unfulfilled commitment from Mayor James Mueller, a group of local business owners in South Bend have taken it upon themselves to find potential sites for the New Day Intake Center.

After Mueller’s January 26th promise went unmet, dedicated business leaders refused to remain still.

Through a collaboration with Redress South Bend, they analyzed over 600 properties within municipal ownership.

A list of 13 viable locations was created based on size, zoning compatibility and neighborhood impact.

And, they proposed three supplemental sites on smaller parcels despite the city’s preference for larger acreage.
