A Benton Harbor woman involved in a theft at Niles Lowe’s last year has been sentenced to jail.
Fawnette Desiree Scott, 48, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree retail fraud and assault and battery.
She received a 30-day jail term and around $850 dollars in fines, costs, and restitution. The incident took place last March at the Lowe’s on 11th Street, where Scott and co-defendant Kotina Atkins stole items.
Atkins was previously sentenced to 270 days in July.
Scott expressed remorse to the court, the store, and to the employee she pushed during the incident.
Leader Publications reports she attributed her actions to not being “mentally” present that day and claimed no prior history of assault.
