One man arrested, search underway for second suspect after armed home invasion on Adams Road

The search is on for one of two suspects who police say were armed with guns, identified themselves as County Police officers and forced entry into a home.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4, in the 19000 block of Adams Road, just west of State Road 933.

A caller reported that two white males armed with handgun and rifle identified themselves as officers before bursting into the home. The caller was also able to identify the vehicle used by the suspects.

Officers spotted a vehicle matching the description given by the caller and St. Joseph County Police stopped the vehicle near Brick & Hickory roads.

The driver was detained and has been arrested, however the passenger ran away on foot as the vehicle was stopped.

Officers and K9s pursed the fleeing suspect through the woods and homes to the South and West of Brick and Hickory, but lost the trail of the suspect near the intersection of Cleveland and Ironwood Roads.

Swanson School was placed on lockdown as the pursuit moved toward the school, but the lockdown was lifted shortly afterward.

The suspect driver, Jason Learman has been booked into the County Jail on preliminary charges of Robbery, a level 5 felony, Theft, greater than $750, a level 6 felony and Impersonating a Public Servant, falsely representing as a law enforcement officer, a level 6 felony.

County Police are still searching for a white male approximately 5’7″ tall and 160 pounds, last wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket that fled from the vehicle driven by Learman.
