South Bend police officer charged for alleged sexual relations with teenage girl

Having sex with a teenage girl. That is the charge against a police officer in South Bend.
Rico Butler was arrested and charged over the weekend, after police and child services were tipped off in late February about a relationship Butler had with a teenage girl while he was a school resource officer and boys basketball coach at a high school in Mishawaka.
Butler has been relieved of duty with pay for now.
Police chief Scott Ruszkowski pointing out that only the city’s Board of Public Safety can fire Butler.
