A 5-year-old child is recovering from severe injuries following a drunk driving incident involving their father.

Police in Three Rivers were called to the single-vehicle crash in the area of Jefferson Street and 4th Avenue, where the child sustained serious facial injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.

The driver, a 43-year-old Three Rivers man, was found to be intoxicated.

He’s been arrested and faces multiple charges, and is currently held in the St. Joseph County Jail in Michigan.

The child’s condition was stabilized at the hospital.
