The man who was killed in a crash on I-80/94 in Lake County has been identified.

Ty Freimuth, 39, of Niles was killed when his family SUV was rear-ended by a semi truck. His wife and young son were also in the vehicle.

WNDU reports that she remains in the hospital with serious injuries, and their son is being cared for by a grandparent.

The family were reportedly on their way home from a vacation in Wisconsin when the crash occurred.
